Congrats! You're prep shows that this is a journey (like a marathon), and
not a quick sprint to the finish line.

Hi GS,
I just got my number in my third attempt, I've been a silent listener on
GS
for about 10 months now and the thoughts going around here are very
informative and helped alot in my preparation.
About my study, CCIE has been my goal from 1999 when I took my CCNA, I was
not
studying the whole time but last one and half year I've been studying pretty
hard for the CCIE.
I took CCNP in 2001 and then I took some break until 2004 when I took CCDP
and year after that, late 2005, CCIP. I thought of CCIP like a way to
prepair
for CCIE written the exams there filled in some of my gaps for CCIE written,
like BGP and QoS. I finished the written in begining of 2006 and began the
study for the lab.
I desided to keep my studying on both lab workbook and then I also wanted
to
take a bootcamp.
I used the workbook from Internetwork Experts which I thought was pretty
good.
In october 2006 I went to a bootcamp with H. U. (CCIE#1561) in Denver and
that bootcamp got me to look at all the little things that I thought doesn't
matter but they certainly matter when you are taking the lab. Also the
speed
improvements on configuring, I probably got 2x faster after that bootcamp.
After my two attempts that didn't go that well, I decided to take a week
mock lab to find out where I was failing so I went to a mock lab with Narbik
Kocharians (CCIE#12410 R&S,SP,Security) at NLI. During that week we sat
configuring all day from 9 o'clock in the morning until late in the evening
and Narbik was with us all the time and was always ready to answer questions
about everything and explained everything very well. In that mocklab week
we
also went through a focused material on certain subjects that Narbik just
wrote, that material I think helped me alot getting maximum knowledge in
each
area.
