storm-control is normally use in Layer 2 switches to provide
basic rate-limiting, filtering, traps, etc.
As Josef as mentioned, it is simple to use. Storm control
can do 1 thing where MQC cannot, to shutdown a port
when violate occurs!! :) Can it also can send traps where
MQC cannot.
SW3(config-if)#storm-control ?
action Action to take for storm-control
broadcast Broadcast address storm control
multicast Multicast address storm control
unicast Unicast address storm control
SW3(config-if)#storm-control action ?
shutdown Shutdown this interface if a storm occurs
trap Send SNMP trap if a storm occurs
SW3(config-if)#storm-control multicast level ?
pps Enter suppression level in packets per second
<0 - 100> Enter Integer part of level as percentage of bandwidth
