Hello GS,
1- I am confused about the keyward "remote" in the snmp-server user command,
if it is the IP address of the remote
user, why we use an access-list as well?, and why don't we add the IP
address of the NMS after this keyward?...taking
into consideration that if we use this keyward we have to configure the
remote engine id!!
-----------------------------
(config)#snmp-server user cisco YAR remote ?
Hostname or A.B.C.D IP address of remote SNMP entity
-------------------------------
2-As far as i understand from the question, the NMS will be used mainly for
polling, and it will expect to receive
traps as well using same username and password combination for
authentication!..
In the answers, i found the keyward "priv" used in the "snmp-server host"
command although this ward is used for
encryption!!
3- "snmp-server host a.b.c.d version 3 priv IELABUSER", does this mean that
the traps will be sent to the NMS using
the username and passwords created by the snmp-server user command?
Thanks,
Mohamed
