Michael,

I am deep in the same process.....

Unfortunately the equipment is expensive for sure...but I can remember 5
years ago when a 2501 was $500 on Ebay...so everything is relative. I
think I put my rack together (I had already had a rack of equipment for
the RS) for about $6k. If you want to cover the majority of the things
relatively lesser cost, I'd consider at least getting an ASA5510 Sec+
($2300 new) and a 3005 Concentrator, you can do a lot with those two.

Anyway, I have built my own rack as it really seems that for me anyway,
I don't have large continuous chunks of time to lab, instead doing
smaller 2-4hour stints on a daily basis. Rental racks are available, but
be prepared to pay a bit more for the security types if you don't get
your own equipment.

Subject: fingers getting ichy. need information on security
certification

Hi there,

i think CCIE certification is addicative :) i couldn't help myself
checking
out what is needed for a security certification. it looks like the
equipment
involved is quite expensive. anyone has good suggestions on how to get
my
hands on revelant equipment cheaply? online rentals?

thanks
