Hi:

Just some ideas:

1) You should have an idea on what you are trying to acomplish before you do any
redistribution configuration.
1a) You should have a good drawing of the topology and then overlay it with the
IGP and EGP configuration.
2) I find that to Divide and conquor is always a good bet. Take each protocol
and redistribution point and build on top of each piece. By building the
redistribution slows and methodically you will find problems and issues along
the way. At that point you can fix them before you have a major problem.
Sometimes you can have a major problem even with the planning, so at that point
I break the configuration by admin/down an or many interfaces to resolve the
problem and then see how to fix the issue by moving backwards (re-enable the
interfaces).
3) Someone awile back made a suggestion that you build a graphical
redistribution tree (I think he used EIGRP as the model). Take a very simple
view and logically draw all your redistribution points. Then act on this
process. When you are done you should not be far off from what you envisioned.
4) Take a very simple approach. Don't use any labs but build you own. Take 1
protocol and 4 routers and make that protocol work. Move to the next protocol
and then the next. When you have done all the IGPs individually, now take two
protocols and make them work together. Keep it simple with only one router
running one protocol and the rest running the other. Use 1 redistribution point.
When you have an idea on that, then try 2 redistibution points (get the idea?)

Anyway, there is no magical view or book when it comes to some of the more
complex designs. Most of the books and guides give you a small idea and then you
build on those ideas. All of the books people have mentioned here (Maloy,
Comer, Doyle etc) are good books which go through the designs. The Cisco Press
Case Studies are also a good reference. However, playing around and breaking
things is where you learn how things work and where the "gotchas" are for you.
Everyone is different.....

I can show you some ideas via a scanner of what I have done, if you'd like.
