Howard,
I never knew that things have degraded to the point where the like of
Charles Whang and his accomplice are using the group study forum to tout
each other and arguing who have the 'real' or 'fake' labs.
The likes of Charles Whang & his cohorts should be disbanded from group
study, also include their originating IP addresses in the black list. They
obviously do no share the common goal and aspirations for which this group
was created.
Getting one's CCIE is not a goal; I see it more as a responsibility than
anything else. If anyone cheat or cut corners to achieve it, he or she would
not be able to shoulder the responsibilities that come with the certificate.
That individual will fail & shame himself, his friends, his employer and the
society that had before now place held him in high esteem.
Before my CCIE, I was predominately working with Cisco Routers, immediately
after getting my CCIE; I got an offer that I could not refuse from a Vendor
who is a strong competition to Cisco. Today, I work in one of the largest
Telecom Company in the US designing and implementing IP/MPLS core networks
and integrating them with many other vendor devices including Cisco and the
other big names. The process and baptism of fire, which I went through,
while preparing for my CCIE prepared me for this position.
Once people know that, you are a CCIE, they look up to you for all answers
and solutions. They believe that, though you might not have all the answers
right away, you possess the ability to bring the answer and solution to the
table within a short notice. Sometimes you have to think on your feet,
anyone here who have or is currently working in the Telecoms industry
understands that outages, especially the ones involving E911 have to be
resolved within 20-30 minutes else it will becomes an FCC reportable event.
We all know how unpleasant it is work with the FCC guys & their fines and
also the likelihood of dealing with dissatisfied customers who are not only
willing to take their business to the next guy, but are ready to fight you
in court for not be able to make that one important emergency call during
your outage.
Not all CCIEs will have these types of responsibilities, but most would and
if you cheat to get your certificate, time will caught up with you. It is
like cheating in med school and still wanting to work as a surgeon, you will
lost self confident in yourself & work, the fact that you cheated will hurt
you the rest of your life and very soon it will show in your work and
competency, others will see it and your work will show the lack of inner
self confidence.
If CCIE is your aspirations, do not cheat to achieve it. The certification
is very achievable, stay with this group, play your part, study, listen,
practice and before you know it, you will pass with your honor and pride
still in intact.

your efforts in trying to bring some sanity to a very difficulty problem.
