OK, so maybe stripped would be the wrong term. Would you prefer "Made
inactive"?

There have been a number of stories of people losing their IE. (Including
the one about the twin brother who took the lab for his brother after he had
passed - got busted by the proctor.) Just because you may know people that
break NDA and haven't been caught, doesn't mean Cisco doesn't do anything
when it catches people.

There was a training company not too long ago that suddenly stopped selling
materials one day, and the president (who had 4 ccies) had the status for
all 4 showing as "inactive".

My point was that forgetting to recert is not the only reason people lose
"active" status.

Stripping CCIE because of breaking Cisco NDA??? What is that??? I don't
think Cisco strip any CCIE because of NDA. I know CyscoExpert in Chicago has
been breaking DNA to every student and continue breaking but they are still
in business and their CCIE status still active. Cisco employee still goes
there for training.
I know the Cisco AVVID TAC engineer teaching at Cisco academy for part-time
breaking NDA and even gives his student the answer for the test, his CCIE is
still active and he is still working for both Cisco and Cisco academy...go
figure! Dusty - Former Cisco employee

Sometimes people let them lapse, and don't recertify. The number is "active
CCIEs".

Also, sometimes people get their CCIE(s) stripped for NDA violations, etc.

Also, the count didn't start at 0. Started at 1025, I think?

This poses another question. The total number of CCIEs as of 04.2.2007 is
14387
(http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/ccie/certified_ccies/worldwide.html#t
op). The last number reported in GS is 17781. Why is this difference?

RS

So this brings another interesting question. Where are the other study
mailing lists as comprehensive as this? I don't mind even to learn an-other
language for this :)
BTW: IOS command line is also like a foreign language.

Muhabat,
When I attended the lab (multiple times), during lunch I would bring up
groupstudy and MOST of the people that were there taking the lab with me
weren't a part of the list. This was just my experience but I thought it was

very interesting.
