Hey Darby,

I see it a little different... I don't think certifications are meant
to give providers a higher level of support, of course that is a
byproduct, but the primary goal IMHO is to assure the customer a
standard level of support... cisco guarantees that if you hire a CCNA,
CCNP or a CCIE, you get what you pay for... I think customers are
still pretty happy with the level of support they are getting

CCIEs still are the top of the food chain when it comes to IT in
general, up until a couple of years ago, when you hired a CCIE, you
didn't get only the Cisco baggage,a CCIE came with a lot of experience
in IT in general, and in some cases that counts a lot more than the
certification itself. but today, with these brain dumps all over the
place, and a lot of people looking for an easy solution to everything,
a company might end up with a CCIE that never touched a real router,
never saw a network with more than 10 devices, and beside the 10 or 12
scenarios he memorized to pass the Lab, couldn't come up with a
solution to solve to simplest of real world problems if his life
depended on it !!!

and then, when there are enough of these guys around, we'll see a lot
more job posts like " CCIE wanted ... # < XXXX " or the already famous
"CCNA wanted, CCIE prefered" .... why ????? because a bunch of lazy
F#$@%3 couldn't do like the rest of us and actually study and earn
their numbers !

well... until then we can only hope that they shoot themselves on the
foot and don't spill any blood on us ;)
