Re: Why not to use the "real ccie lab" folks

Just remember the purpose of the CCIE Program is not
to mint CCIE's and build egos.

It is really to provide a higher level of support for
the customer.

This comes through guys like us who want to work with
the technology, do the job, and provide a higher level
of service as a by-product of being more
technologically knowledgeable in our chosen field.

So the original question was if what the person should
tell a friend about using materials designed to
shortcut the experience of studying for the lab exam
itself.

That same friend probably took shortcuts to get each
certification to date.

No secret many do as these places flourish on the net
for a reason.

However, us guys who are asked to interview might
avail ourselves by being more demanding of people who
are going to work with us and for us.

If the guy/gal you are hiring cannot do the job, do
you want to get the call on your off-time because the
person has less than the skills promised?

Think about that one, cause that is what matters here.

A cert is a piece of paper and as my wife says "Paper
holds anything".

The value of the CCIE comes from being able to do the
job.

I may joke about it, but trust me, doing the job is
always first and foremost in my mind and I EXPECT it
from those I work with. I won't demand it and I won't
assume it - and if I find gross incompetance and
ineptness, it would bother me.

If you have ever worked with me, you'd understand what
I mean.

So cheat the lab, cheat god, cheat yourself, but if
you meet me - understand well I know there are aids to
these games we play, but I'd expect if you used a
crutch to get past the challenges that you did not
stop there but continued till you are what you say you
are - so you cannot cheat me... and rest assured
there are others who feel the same.

And FYI - I am the very first to advise people to get
the qualification no matter what the cost, however I
also advise one does not opt for the mimimum... in
anything and I do practice what I preach.

Hey, aside from all that - there are still a lot of
quality network engineers who do not even bother with
certs at all and just spend time... working... imagine
that. And some of these guys... alot of these guys
are absolutely fantastic at what they do.

Kewl huh!

But I can't knock certs they have helped me to no end
and I love to study anyway or at least read.
