In the solution guide for OSPF

One of the step's is

Advertise the loopback 0 interface of R5 into OSPF. Do not use a network
statement under the OSPF process or redistribute the loopback to accomplish
this.

Is this a feature specific to 12.4 ?

I have the answer in the solution guide. Unfortunately I'm not running 12.4
on R5 :-(
