I've not yet done/looked at Lab-14 but from your description i think the
following:

The mac-address 0100.5e00.000a is the a Multicast address which i think the
intention was to "isolate" the BB3 from receiving the eigrp multicast
announcements/updates!

The "ip igmp snooping" is also done for the same purpose which is to
"ignore" eigrp multicast traffic that comes from BB3.
