GS,
while from experience on both certs, i would say that the
CCIE
this will give you the oppotunity to learn/understand the technology and
ability to enter the right commands, it does not cover much of a real life
scenarios as far as job as your job is concerned, but it will make you be
able to look through a well designed network by a good designer and figure
out "why" its designed that way. but does not give you the "instinct" of
designing good networks, because it is not meant for that.
CCDP
This focus more on the facts and nuances of network design and the factors
you should consider when designing a network. This IMHO is the right Cert
for the Network Designer.
I wish cisco still has a design track for CCIE. I have met a number of CCIE
who have the right Concept of the technology but could not design a good
network, but eventually can pick up the design principles as they trudge
through the job.
Finally I would advise you consider the two.
