For what it is worth, it sounds like some kind of scam to me. Last
time I checked, the partner could hold your number for up to a year.
This is precisely to avoid a scenario like the one claimed here. If it
is legit, then I would certainly run it by Cisco before putting my
number at risk for a few dollars!
