I think this must be the certification world's equivalent to being
"Punk'd"... I know there's a camera crew watching my facial expressions
as I read this.
Seriously though.... trying hard not to flame, but here my thoughts:
1.) Have you finished the CCIE written exam yet? This service is
intended for those who have and are coming up on their lab date. Even
with the written exam complete - I see that (at least in the US) it's
hard to get a R&S lab date before late July.
2.) Do a honesty check - where are your router/routing/switching skills?
Although the CCNA is not a prerequisite for the CCIE, you may want to
look at a book on that Certification and see how your skills compare. If
you feel overwhelmed or confused by what's there, then the chances
become less that you would pass the CCIE Routing & Switching lab at this
point.
3.) If you feel 'ok' with the CCNA level topics - I second Scott's vote
on the Cisco Press Practice Labs book - though a bit dated, it's a cheap
price of entry to see what CCIE candidates are being asked to accomplish.
4.) You better get comfortable with Cisco's "big mistake" command line -
it's part of life - especially that of a CCIE candidate.
5.) Yes, I supposed you could think of it as an open book exam - but if
you have to open that book for everything - you'll still fail as it's
too vast an array of topics to not have the core topics at ready recall.
