Hi guys,
I have some questions regarding the size of a packet, specifically the ethernet frame.
I find in most documentations that the size of the ethernet frame is 14 bytes (destination, source and type field) i cant seem to understand why the preamble, sfd, and fcs are not counted on the overall size.
Another question that i have is the ip mtu command. As i understand the size that we specify with this command does not include the ethernet header, is this a standard or only Cisco has this.
I hope i have been clear, please let me know if you cant understand something. I really appreciate your help.
I know it is a basic question but i am trying to get the basics strait then move on.
Thanks in advance,
Parish
