Hey - I don't feel sorry for anyone with a CCIE who accepts a 30k job to
move to the US. Its called free trade. If the potential employee
accepts the raw deal - its his fault - not the company's. The company
is simply fishing with 30k as the bait - the fish doesn't have to bite.
As with anything - it is up to the potential employee to be as informed
as he/she can. That's why sites like payscale.com and salary.com are
great resources.

some people just want a slice of the american pie and are willing to
take anything to get it. Maybe they are just looking for a foot in the
door. All this is difficult to understand for those of us who live here
already.
Companies know this, they also know what you get paid in the home
country.
They are also sponsoring the employee with the H1-B that right there is
a benefit to them.
So I wouldnt call anyone stupid for accepting a deal, 30k is a bit
low..but 50k-60k may be acceptable considering the company is hooking
them up with the H1-B and giving them a chance to come to america!
