In the lab we can keep it simple, or keep it tight.
It occurs to me, for example, that building a trunk between the switches
could have its VLANs restricted easily enough with pruning and only allowing
the set of VLANs in use. Another would be making all interfaces passive by
default -especially with RIP and its classful network statements. These
restrictions might not be asked for, but are good practice. So, I find
myself wondering what sort of strategy to pursue.
As I understand it, the lab marking scheme will highlight whether something
works or not. On the other hand I gather that the assessor labs, at least,
can be tighter than that, and highlight some things which don't
fundamentally stop things working, so I'm curious whether you good folks
have a view as to which approach to take.
Thoughts?
