When you decide right now what is permitted.. Example:

Access-list 101 permit ip any any

Which says any traffic may bring up the line. Just put "time-range (name)"
at the end of the line. And in typical ACL processing, if the time-range is
not active (show access-list can let you know this) then everything else is
denied, or is non-interesting.

I have used time-based ACL for blocking mail traffic (smtp, pop3), ftp etc.
but for blocking interesting traffic what needs to be specified in ACL?

I am just trying out to search implementation of event viewer .Any input
will be appreciated.

Vijay

Wouldn't that be much easier to solve by using a time-based ACL as your
interesting traffic for dialing out?

Or you could use the event manager to enact a shutdown on the interface
rather than the entire router.

There's nothing in the IOS that says "shutdown now and wake back up at 8am".

Actually my problem is I have one router which is working on ISDN and I have
to power down it manually in the evening. In case I forget to power down,
unnecessary ISDN charges is happening. I was just searching for any
mechanism for shut down in the evening.

Vijay

Are you referring to reload and not shutdown?

Router#reload ?
  LINE Reason for reload
at Reload at a specific time/date
  cancel Cancel pending reload
in Reload after a time interval

Hi GS,

Is there any specific command with which I can schedule my router to power
down at some particular time?

Vijay Kumar
