I think a general guideline you'll hear on this from *most* is to
configure the minimum necessary. Don't think real world, think "will my
solution accomplish the task given given the stated requirements?"
Regarding the iBGP point - I've gone from using loopbacks, to not using
loopbacks, to saying "it depends". One "it depends" is what do you want the
next-hop address to be for your bgp routes? You may not want it to be the
WAN interface. IEWB Lab 17 will work you over on this point fairly well....
