Hi Ronnie,

Thanks for reply, as you said I have created VLAN 100 and It worked fine, I
have found an alternative, which is to first make switch client then let it
replicate the vlan database and then make it transparent, which is
essentially same as creating vlans manually.

Thanks for you help.

Best Regards,

Make sure that VLAN100 exists on S2. You will need to configure it manually
since the switch is in transparent mode.

Hi GS,

I have created one configuration like this:

                          R1

S1---------------------S2------------------------------S3

Server Transparent Client

I have created Vlan 100, Vlan 200 and Vlan 300 on S1. After establishing
trunks between switches I found that vlans from S1 are propagating to S3
through (vtp transparent mode) S2.

s1#sh vtp status

VTP Version : 2

Configuration Revision : 1

Maximum VLANs supported locally : 256

Number of existing VLANs : 8

VTP Operating Mode : Server

VTP Domain Name : test

VTP Pruning Mode : Disabled

VTP V2 Mode : Disabled

VTP Traps Generation : Disabled

Local updater ID is 192.168.100.100 on interface Vl100 (lowest numbered VLAN
interface found)

s2#sh vtp status

VTP Version : 2

I put two interfaces in vlan 100 at s1 and s2, but they were unable to
communicate with each other, although both are in same vlan and interfaces
are configured for access mode.

S1

Port Name Status Vlan Duplex Speed Type

Fa1/0 connected trunk a-full 100
10/100BaseTX

Fa1/1 notconnect 1 auto auto
10/100BaseTX

Fa1/2 notconnect 1 auto auto
10/100BaseTX

Fa1/3 Interface for Vlan connected 100 a-full a-100
10/100BaseTX

S3

Port Name Status Vlan Duplex Speed Type

Fa1/0 notconnect 1 auto auto
10/100BaseTX

Fa1/1 connected trunk a-full 100
10/100BaseTX

Fa1/2 notconnect 1 auto auto
10/100BaseTX

Fa1/3 interface f1/3 - 6 connected 100 full 100
10/100BaseTX

Still I am not able to ping within the same vlan 100. Any help will be
highly appreciated.

Best Regards,
