W/out labbing it, I'm only guessing, but I'd think that you wouldn't be able
to do what you're asking. From what I'm reading out of your question, it
would kind of ruin the point of authentication. There's no null
authentication like in OSPF.

This statement alludes to the need for keys applied:
If a key chain is not configured, no authentication is performed on that
interface, not even the default authentication.
