All,
Especially Vendors,
The vendor bashing, slights, sneers, and insults has
really got to STOP.
In truth, it never should have started.
So please for the sake of everyone on Groupstudy stop
bashing one another, taking pots shots of typos,
quotes, and unfortunate events that cause a loss of
service to a vendor's service as some recent examples.
In short, it serves no one any good. And if anything,
it may make us, the customers, think less of those who
participate in this childishness. My compliments to
those vendors who have wisely chosen to stay above the
melee going on here: past, present, and future.
Flame me if you like, but you know who you are, and
unfortunately, so do we as the users on Groupstudy.
What we expect/don't expect to see from vendors:
1. We like the idea that they offer time to help us
understand problems and issues that we are having
while studying.
2. We don't like vendors who use Groupstudy as their
own support forum - especially if the truth is that
their own support forums are neglected (Some vendors
are very glib on Groupstudy, but how active are they
on thier on forums???). By the way - if someone does
not support a function of the product you buy - are
you due a partial or full refund?
3. We like to know what other members (not other
vendors) think of their own experiences at various
vendors. The vendors themselves may be biased and so
it does not serve the question for a vendor or an
employee of that vendor to comment on these types of
questions.
4. We like to be able to commune with vendors and
instructors (but one-to-one should be conducted
one-to-one and not necessarily broadcasted to
everyone).
5. We do not expect to see vendors posting snide
remarks, offensive gestures, and other things
generally unpleasant, especially when it involves the
competition - some people here seem to do so with some
relish. TAKE THIS OFFLINE - If you guys have the time
and energy to send these childish e-mails then please
do so one-to-one, or one-to-few, but leave
one-to-everyone of Groupstudy out of it.
6. Taking advantage of a Groupstudy Member's problem
to mock another vendor is a N0-NO. Remember the
Golden Rule here.
7. Generally unprofessional behaviour by "the icons of
the industry" in a public forum is generally not
consistent with good taste. Please exercise your good
taste and use your good judgement accordingly.
8. Oh yes, we love insight, tips, tricks, etc. that
might make us better engineers and help us pass our
CCIE Lab exam as a result.
Now back to studies and lunch at the moment...
So... I'm sorry it needed to be said, but things are
getting quite loud.
