It is always great to get a BS and/or Masters, even if getting specialized certifications will get you a job faster and with more money. Here is a list of universities and colleges in the US (In case you do not have it):

During your BS studies you should also take private Cisco courses and pass the certification exams (CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, CCVP, etc...and CCIEs). In the beginning you might want to take some beginner networking classes (Unless if your BS studies prepare you for those) like Network + and A+ before getting into Cisco CCNA.
If you have both BS (and maybe MS) in computer science and Cisco certifications then you can move up the ladder much faster and feel more proud of what you accomplished....and make your parents happy with that BS diploma :-)
