there is a document that states how partners are supposed to treat the
number and rules from transferring the number back and forth between
partners but I hate to say it...the CCIE number belongs to Cisco and no one
else, they ASSIGNED the number to you but it's not really yours.
If the company paid your test fee and their was an implied agreement that
you would associate your number then you probably should to prevent getting
fired. If you didnt, then there is nothing the company can do to force you
that I know about however..they can always fire you if you dont depending on
what the terms of your employment are. They dont have to give you a raise or
anything unless it's in writing. If you really, really want to press the
issue you could see an employment lawyer and they can give you the in's and
out's of the laws in your current state.
My company (the government) paid nothing for my testing endevours but I
still use my number on my work contract numbers since it provides expedited
ticket handling which really helps. I wasnt provided a raise or
anything..except more work.
