Hi Group,
Has anyone ever seen a scenario whereby they are required to connect to a
RAS device with a remote home ADSL router via chap authentication. If the
remote home router (i.e. a 1841 with a WIC1-ADSL) fails chap authentication,
then, the router re-tries the authentication using a second, alternate chap
username/password.
For example, on the remote, home adsl router you would have under the dialer
0 interface the ppp chap hostname xyz@domain1.co.uk
However, if the chap connect request to xyz@domain1.co.uk is rejected
(typically the radius server domain1.co.uk is down), do you know how to
specify a second chap hostname/password to try which we would have defined
on a failover radius server (domain2.co.uk)..
I.e. 2nd chap hostname,
ppp chap hostname xyz.domain2.co.uk
I've tried having a second dialer profile, dialer1 with the alternate chap
hostname/password but I can't see how to get the router to try dialer1 if
dialer0 fails to authenticate.
I've also looked at rotary groups but this feature is somewhat limited under
atm/adsl.
It was a scenario presented to me recently by a fellow student and I was
just wondering if any one out there had seen a similar problem..
Many thanks,
Malcolm
