Hello guys,
client- Switch- RADIUS server.
I have a couple of questions about the encapsulation and packet structure in
the 802.1x (EAP) authentication process.
1) When I have read about this in the book was written that: client sends
the EAPOL frame to the Switch. Switch strips the Ethernet header and
reformats it so that it can be sent to the RADIUS server. What does it
mean?? Which fields are added?? What happens with the frame??
2) As I have googled about the EAP packet structure.... As I understand the
frame between client and switch doesn't have the normal Ethernet frame
form.... but it seems that a specific EAP frame format is used is it true
(like in ppp)??
I ask because I have nowhere found the answer on this questions.
Any info about the structure of the frames, packets during this process is
very needed. Which fields there are at first which are removed and added
than??
Thank you very much.
