Re: ccie lab for tax deduction

I just did my taxes and the deduction has changed to deduction for
expenses over 2% of your income. That was very dissapointing. The more you
make the harder it is to get a deduction. Is this anybody elses
experience. I use an experienced accountant, but his specialization is
not federal taxes.

I suspect if you own a business related to CCIE training you would
account for the expence differently.

The tax man told me 8 years ago when I got audited that I had to
depreciate my equipment. Accountant said not to argue, so I
  didn't...

No no problem I do it every year, just keep the receipts and take the
  depreciation of the equipment
at once(deduction 179). I you used Turbo Tax or similar, the program
  will
  walk you through the process.
I spend 13,000 in a voice lab and I'm claiming all, plus books,
  bootcamps.
  is all for job improvement.
