Question:

Cisco 7960 phones generating voip traffic with a 802.1P header and a layer 2 CoS of 5. Congiure the network so VoIP traffic received from the IP phones retains its COS and traffic received from the PC's connected to the access ports of the IP phones is marked with COS of 3.

The solution guide gives the answer tailored to a 3550 switch, and I am using 3560.

The solution guide answer is:

int fa0/10
  switchport voice vlan dot1p
  switchport priority extend cos 3
  mls qos trust cos

When I enter this in, I get the following output,

Rack1SW1(config-if)#switchport voice vlan dot1p
% Voice VLAN does not exist. Creating vlan 0
Rack1SW1(config-if)#
20:05:51: %PM-2-VLAN_ADD: Failed to add VLAN 0 - VLAN not found.

Does this behave differently on the 3550 platform? Should I create a voice vlan of 5 since this is the data vlan and there was no mention of a seperate voice vlan.

Thanks for any input,

Mark
