Hello all,
I am using the IE lab Workbook Volume 1 (Version 3) for preparation and would like to ask the following questions regarding preparation for the lab. Would appreciate your responses:
1. IE Labs are rated on a scale of 5-10. In relation to the IE lab difficulty levels, what would be the level of the actual CCIE lab ? (5-10)
2. I am using IE Workbook Labs Volume 1 (1-20) for practice. Should this be sufficient or are the Volume 2 labs (additional ten) also reccommended for preparation. Is it better just to cover the 20 labs of Volume 1 thoroughly rather than covering the additional ten of volume 2 ?
3. For people on the list who have passed the lab comfortably, what is the level of proficiency you have reached on the IE Volume 1 Labs just prior to taking the exam i.e.
3a. How much time should it take to complete IE Volume 1 labs of difficulty levels 5-7, and 8-10 respectively ?
3b. How much should be the minimum score on these practice labs (at a minimum) to know you are ready to pass the lab ?
4. How different is the Service Provider CCIE Lab exam from the CCIE Routing & Switching exam (i.e. apart from the new topics in SP such as MPLS, VPNs, ATM, ISIS, how much additional work needs to be done to pass the SP exam ?).
5. In the CCIE Lab exam can you ask for as much additional sheets of scratch paper as you need (at least 5 sheets are normally consumed for scratch work for me per lab) or is there a limit on how much paper you are allowed to keep on your desk ?
6. Whats the best course of action for a person who passes the CCIE Routing and Switching Exam, but has no prior production-environment hands-on experience. What sort of a job should you look for ? Design ? Configuration ? What is reccommended to build a strong CCIE foundation for the future ?
7. What happens to your knowledge base in 6 months, 1 year and 2 years after taking the exam ? How should a CCIE keep himself/herself prepped up ?
Once again thanks very much for your answers.
