with the correct version of IOS, "ip address dhcp" in interface configuration mode

dhcp will give you the default route

I am doing this at home on cable with a 2621, works fine

Subject: Cisco 1841 with Cable Modem

Hi,

I was just wondering if there is a way to connect a Cisco Router to a cable
modem?

FastEthernet port would not get IP address manually configured, as it would
have to be dynamically assigned.
How would you route out traffic to an ethernet interface as it is not a
point to point connection:

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 fastethernet 0/0 <----- this is not going to work

TIA
