Subject: I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CCIE #17286

GS,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I passed yesterday at RTP. I
have waited a while to send out an email to this group. The emails that
everyone would send once they passed kept me motivated and hopefully
this will motivate some one else.

This was a tough road for me and I honestly felt like giving up
sometimes but the strength within me and the MAN upstairs pulled me
through. I passed the written in September of last year and started
studying for the lab in March this year but I took the wrong approach. I
tried to learn by lab as IE would call it. I did this for about 5
months only to find out during my first attempt that I was in the
category of didnt have a clue or I did not know thy options as NMC
categorizes candidates. This is the WORST approach that you can take to
prepare for this exam. I just about had to relearn everything that I
thought I knew the right way which was read books, RFCs, google and
then lab it up. After I did this I then started to do the labs. I took
some mock labs over the past couple of weeks that I didnt score really
high on but it was always an issue with interpretation. Once I got to
this point I knew that I was ready and three months after my first
attempt I passed.

I would like to thank IE and NMC for the material that they provide. I
would like to especial thank Indy from NMC and Mike from IE. They both
were very patient with me and provided help when I needed. Thanks to
everyone on this list for asking questions and to those who answered
them whether right or wrong. My motto is no question is a dumb question.

Lawny
