Michael,

This is an "ideal" 3-pass solution. But if you meet something puzzles you
and you can not get it immediately, you may not be able to check it
throughly in the 3rd pass. A simple batch ping will cause you more than 30
min to finish. And, moreover. What if you find you can not ping one IP in
your final check? Are you able to correct it? If you want to achieve that
in you last 1 hour most likely you will cause some other part not
functioning properly. Especially when you change your routing or access
list. So that's the real challenge we have to face. I would personally
recommend to adopt a do-and-check solution rather than check everything at
last. At least always check your routing table after one section to ensure
it is unchanged as you just finished your IGP part (where you are confident
with full IP reachability after your full test).
