im two for two.

ask the seller about the password.
ask them if there are any amber lights.
If they don't know the password it should be cheaper.
if they can't get into the device maybe they can show you a picture of
the model number, then you'll know it is not a 3548.

breaking the password should be easy.

  It was alright buying $100 25xx or 26xx routers. Who cares if they
  are quality seller.

  But buying a $1300 3550 is different.

  Couldn't get CPUs compile code fast enough in the slow nano second
  clocking. How do I end up waiting for days for human.
