EIGRP timers

Hi group,

For my EIGRP adjacency, does the hello and hold timers need to be the
same on both sides? Ie, if my

ip hello-interval eigrp 10 1

 ip hold-time eigrp 10 4

is configured on one side and the other side is default, do both routers
use different timers and everything still works?

I tried this on two routers and did not see problems....

Any expert advice?
