Take control of your network! You can always remove the element of doubt
by configuring a priority on the root switch, ensuring that some evil
tie-breaker doesn't play a part.
Lets say you are running PVST (by default), why not configure, on the
root switch:
spanning-tree vlan [range] priority [priority] (or some other value)
i.e.
spanning-tree vlan 1-4094 priority 8192
This way if you *did* need a reread, the view of your network wouldn't
change.
Regards,
Alex

the lab
Hi Ken,
1. Sometimes the downstream may be the root switch, all you need is to
configure one end only, check to see which switch is root then you will
have
2 options:
A. To configure the port priority on the root B. To configure the port
cost on the non root switch
2. As far for running any retesting I think that cisco will record which
was your root switch at the time of your exam imho.
Cheers,
Dan
