Everyone lets keep in mind what this product actually
is. Its a hosted simulator of a MIPS R4700 processor,
with the appropriate IO interfaces for various line
cards (PA and NM) for the respective devices.
Not all routers use the MIPS processor, and backward
compatibility is not a guarentee that 12.4 IOS images
will run correctly, or at all. A lot of the newer
routers are using IDT processors, which are compatible
but are not the same.
I think we as a community should help the developers
where we can. How we do that is not clearly
understood but I think its obvious that we have vested
interest in this product.
Just my $0.02
