I don't want to insult your intelligence here you but did you try swapping
the patch cable? What about the SFPs? Are you sure the transmit and
receive on your cables are crossed over in one and only one spot? What is
the distance of your link? Are you sure the distance is within the limits?
Do you have the right type of fiber connected to each SFP?
I believe that you would have checked all of these things Jens Petter but I
thought I might pitch in on the list.
One other thing...I've seen where the physical interface would not come up
if it's in a channel-group and the port-channel interface is
administratively down (you didn't show that interface in your output). I
know that sounds backwards but it's bitten me before just like that. Other
than that, I've never seen anything different on a 4500 then any other
switch where basic connectivity is concerned.

Subject: regarding cat 4500 switches
I have interconected two 4503 switches using SFP Modules in the SFP
interfaces on the supervisor modul. I am not able to get link, I have tried
with default setting on the interface although this is the current.
Regardles of this config, I should get the link here, but I am not.
Any tips of what I need to do here, I cant seem to figure this out.
interface GigabitEthernet1/19
no switchport
no ip address

!
on a show interface I see that no traffic what so ever have been recived or
sent here.
