Specific VTP mode might be required indirectly,

- by asking to create an extended VLAN
- by asking not to use VTP

There might be others, it was just off the top of my head.

Which mode would you choose in this case?

I think if we put one switch in transparent mode, there is no big reason
to have the other one in server mode (unless it was clearly said to have
it this way).

With transparent mode on both, the Q might be if we need to keep the
same VLAN list on both switches or not. But one will probably not loose
points for such an over configuration.

With all this discussion of having possibly 4 switches in the lab, VTP
mode Q becomes more critical though. :-)
