John -
My problem is that I never get to the main screen....even though it
looks for the CD on boot. I tried 2 different CD burning programs, so I
am not sure what the issues are.

Press F6 at the main screen once it boots, replace the persistent option
with acpi=off and hit Enter. I had to use this to get it to boot for me.
Works fine afterwards. This is mentioned on his website at the bottom of
the Live CD instructions.
This is a fine work Paul has done. With a few more enhancements, this CD
would replace my router rack that I study the IE with.

Has anyone had any success with running this as the CD option. I tried
burning this on to CD and it doesn't appear to be able to boot. Any
help on this would be appreciated. TIA.

There is an easier way. Go to http://www.virtualpod.org. There is a
live CD you can download with everything installed and ready to go.
Plus some video on how to get things up and running.
I wrote a gui front end which manages IOS images and labs.
It is still beta-ware so please send me bug reports/suggestions.
Take care,
