Yes it can be done with rainbow tables. This is done on a fairly regular
basis be security auditors. You can wiki rainbow tables to learn more.

If you want to generate your own tables you can get winrtgen from
www.oxid.it
This will generate LM, FastLM, NTLM, MSCACHE, MD2, MD4, MD5, SHA1,
RIPEMD160, MySQL323, MySQLSHA1, CiscoPIX, ORACLE, SHA-2 (256), SHA-2 (384)
and SHA-2 (512) hashes

Do you really want to know the rub an md5 rainbow table with about 95%
success rate will take up about
298 gigs on your hard drive and take a month to generate

And that's if the password is 7 or less characters
