Think about the concepts of what private VLANs entail... Isolated type: no
hosts can communicate with each other at all. Community type: the hosts in
this community can talk, but not with other communities. Promiscuous type:
talks to anyone.

Now, what's the concept of a VLAN in general? Devices sharing the same
subnet.

So if you have a scenario where certain groups of hosts within a single
subnet have different characteristics like those above, it would be a prime
candidate for private VLANs.
