Folks, this command will prevent the forming of shortest path source based trees in a (*, G) environment, provided a much better path to the source exists, than a (*, G) path. If I understand this right, this command has no use on the source router (first-hop router from the source). Any comments on this ?
Also, I was thinking about a different approach of doing the same thing. What if I can configure this source router not to accept join messages from the leaf routers ? I tried to browse through the IOS config guide to check whether there was such a command but cant find one. Anyone, any comments ?
The closest that I came to (yet very far from what is needed here): "ip pim accept-rp" will prevent join messages towards false RPs.
Thanks
Adhu.
