Congratulations on all your efforts! The question is though, will Guitar
Hero 2 be more or less difficult than this was? ;)

Subject: I passed in RTP... holy crap!!!

First I would like to say... Holy Crap!!!...

I passed R&S in RTP on Oct. 25th...

Now I would like thank everyone that took the time to read my idiotic
questions. Most of the time I felt embarrassed asking these questions,
because there were so simple. But I am very happy that I joined Group Study,
there are so many smart people in here. Besides smart... there are very
motivated, even if they don't know they answer... they look it up.

THANKS!!!

Words of wisdom...

Well... I don't have much. I have only been working in networking for about
14 months. I pretty much studied for the exam, because I wanted to learn,
and it gave me a path. So now the only thing I am lacking is experience,
which will only come in time.

One thing that I can tell you about the exam is pretty much what everyone
has been saying... "Assume nothing". What this means to me, and what I did
was first go through the exam once... ask questions when necessary. Then go
over each question again... and force yourself to form a question and go ask
the proctor, and make it so they will give you a response. I got a response
every time... and I asked a lot of questions, so I don't know how others are
forming questions that aren't getting responses.

Secondly, I once heard a rumor that if you find extra things in the lab
wrong it is possible to get extra points... This is not true. I found two
extra things... unrelated... and they just said... "oh... well that doesn't
need to be there... just remove it." Then I ask for extra points... they
laughed me... Then I laughed at myself.

As far as my study method... I started out with IPexpert... then when to San
Jose for my first attempt on june16th, 2006. I wasn't exactly ready... I
pretty much took it to fail.

But when I failed... I didn't know where to go from there... I didn't know
how to improve... so I hit the books again... I read tcp/ip books, both
doyle books, all of my old cisco books, ipv6 cisco press all cover to cover.
Then I started studying again... with books along my side.

I took my second attempt on September 20th, 2006. I failed just barely... so
I submitted a re-grade... they lost the regrade. They gave me a free retake.
To study for it I used IEWB. It was good... easy... but that doesn't mean
anything... they are still more difficult then the real thing.

I went to take my third and final attempt on Oct 25, 2006. When I walked
into the lab... I knew I was going to pass... I just knew I was ready for
anything they could through at me. I finished the lab about 4 hours before
it was over and rechecked and bugged the hell out of the proctors.

Most people talk about how nervous they are before the exam and how they
don't sleep... I never experienced any of that. I think I got the same
effect after I finished the exam. I knew I passed... I just couldn't wait 8
hours to get home to check... and man... it was the longest 8 hours of my
life... when I got home at midnight... I checked my ccie status... and
instead of "not certified"... I saw my number... then I woke up my roommate,
called and woke up my mom and girlfriend to tell them the news.

I am glad it's over... I have way too many video games to catch up on...
Guitar Hero 2 is coming out soon... I need to practice for that now.

Thanks for all of your help... I really appreciate all your time and effort.

Thanks,

Dan CCIE#17094
