Hi,

For something watchable - use VLC (you can stream your favourite movie
and watch it on the client station). Don't forget to set TTL value
greater than 1 unless you want to practice your multicast
troubleshooting skills for an hour or so (going through the whole
shebang of IGMP, PIM, RPF checks...etc :)

Otherwise - great tools for generating data multicast streams - ping -
provides great flexibility in chosing the destination multicast group
and packet size. On the receive side use tcpdump or my favourite one
- tethereal.

Also , for BSD/Linux boxes you can use mnc (multicast netcat) - good
tool do dump the stream in a file or just to /dev/null.
