This is not specific to IE lab question, but feel free the review question
if it is handy.
RIP
R1 R2
OSPF
Well known scenario. Simply to avoid any routing loops we tag announcements
both ways and filter when redistributing on the other router. Fair enough,
this is the answer given on the IE workbook also.
But there is one other problem, Routes from RIP domain, redistributed into
OSPF at R1 and R2 prefers OSPF route to RIP destinations since it has a
better AD. This does not cause loss of connectivity or flapping, but simply
suboptimal routing. In my case it even prefers to go through a 3rd router in
OSPF domain which is the DR. And traffic basically prefer to wander around
in FR segments rather than using R2's direct ethernet connection to RIP
hosts.
What am I doing wrong here ? What is the possible solution ?
I can simply set distance ospf external 121 to avoid this behavior but then
the same happens within RIP segment.
Any ideas ?

Cagri
