Friends,
Can some one explain, how a given DHCP client reacts, when the DHCP
server sends two default gateways?
Example of router configuration:
ip dhcp pool TWO_GATEWAYS
network 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
default-router 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.2
1- The client tries the first gateway on the list and if it is alive
ignores the second (if the first goes down after this the client looses
connectivity) if the first it is not alive at the beginning then the
client only installs the second.
In other words, the client installs, and remembers only one gateway, the
first alive?
Or
2- The client is capable of "caching" the whole list (two in the
example) and then if at a given point the used gateway goes down, switch
to the next on the list?
Best Regards,
Roberto
