No "family" problem here :-) I can pack up and be ready for a 12 hour flight
in 2 hours...
How is the tax situation in Europe? My impression is that US is the best (30%
to 40%) for low 100K USD.
Any comments?
Also anyone has experience working in Eastern Europe in similar positions?
(Bucharest is only 75 minute flight to Turkey :-), more exotic travel
possibilities )

Agreed, the same with the US. The real money is in the contract positions,
VoIP especially. The trick about the high cost of living in the city is to
find a company that will pay for travel expenses. Its tough if you have a
family though.

Let's don't get too excited...
UK salaries in an "absolute" scale are good, but what about on a "relative"
scale.
1-2 bedroom apartments in decent London
areas sells for around 300-400K pounds (and I believe I'm staying low), and
the bedrooms are smaller than my walk in closet. No kidding.
Many of them have
carpet in the bathroom, so prepare yourself to remodel.
Renting doesn't come
for cheap either, many single people rent single bedrooms in shared
apartments.
Same can be said for food, whether you eat out or you cook on your own.
If you have a family, public elementary and middle schools are not very good
I'm told (it may depend on the district), so many families send their kids
to private schools (if they can get them accepted since the demand is
high)...since you are not the only one that has to earn a live there, you
can guess how much they cost.
Everything else is personal taste. My sister lived there for 10 years and
she is getting tired only now...a friend couple who stayed there 2 years
only is already making plans to leave.
