Hi Darby,
After your 1st lab attempt, you have 12 months till your written expires.
If you fail on the 2nd attempt, you then have that 6 months the proctor was
talking about. And, then total, you have three years from the time you
first took your written before you have to redo the written.
For example (if someone was stretching out their time as longggg as
possible):
Passed the written Jan 1st 2006
1st attempt on June 30st, 2007 (18 months since the written was passed)
2nd attempt on June 29th, 2008 (12 months since 1st attempt)
Must pass by Dec 31st, 2008 or you have to retake the written (3 years since
written was taken and only 6 months from your 2nd attempt).
This is assuming the lab is open on New Year's, not adjusting for leap-year,
holidays, etc.. (just a quick example.)
http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/ccie/exam/index.html
- Candidates who do not pass must re-attempt the lab exam within 12 months
of their last attempt in order for their written exam to remain valid.
- If a candidate does not pass the lab exam within three years, the written
exam expires and must be passed again before the candidates will be allowed
to schedule the lab.
HTH,
Sean

drop???
Correct me if anone knows better:
1. 18 months of the time from when the written is
taken.
2. 12 months extension after the 1st lab attempt (I
took mine at the 18 month mark).
3. 6 months extension the next lab attempt.
If I recall I heard the proctor correctly.
I was never really clear on the last 6 months...
