Hi All,
PIM dense mode multicast was presented on one of the IE Advanced
Technology Labs. The setup consists of a switch simulating a multicast
sender (implemented by RTR), another switch simulating multicast
receiver (implemented by enforcing the switch interface to join the
multicast group) and a cloud of intermediate routers.
Every thing is going fine with me in this setup. The multicast tree is
built normally and I was able to apply all the tests on this lab. What I
am asking about is that how I could test that the multicast traffic is
moving normally from the source to the receiver.
Using "debug ip packet" on the sending switch, I was able to see
multicast packets sourced from the switch outgoing interface and
destined to the multicast group. Using "debug ip packet" on the
receiving switch, I did not see the multicast packets received. Also on
any intermediate router in the tree I could not see the multicast feed
flowing.
However, when I ping the multicast group address from the source switch,
I could see the receiving switch replies.
Am I doing something wrong here in this test? Have anyone other testing
method?
Regards
Mohamed Saeed, CCNP - CCIP
