Where are tag values changed?

All, I am seeing some unexpected behavior with some tag values and
just wanted to double check...

As an example, on R6 I redistribute a group of routes into
EIGRP/OSPF/or RIP and tag them to '50'. Where does the tag value get
re-written/removed?

I believe it is maintained across the entire IGP you are
re-distributing into, but I am not seeing this behavior with one of my
routers.
